About the event
There’s a reason why Bob Dylan has been dubbed America’s Greatest Songwriter — his timeless tunes have inspired and entertained generations. As Bob Dylan celebrates his 82nd birthday this month, we’re celebrating one more lap around the sun with Old Bob, a tribute band that channels the essence of Dylan’s decades of artistry in a lively, engaging way.
What separates Old Bob from typical tributes? With more than 150 songs in their repertoire, you’ll enjoy the classics, hear unforgettable deep cuts, and also get to know Dylan’s newer works from the 2000s-on, in a fun and interactive performance — requests are welcome!
About Old Bob: Celebrating the music of “The Bard,” this band of seasoned Connecticut-based musicians came together when upright bassist/singer Brian Anderson had the idea to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday in 2016 by performing 75 of the Hall-of-Famer’s songs in chronological order. The show was a hit and the band proceeded to keep the tradition alive for future birthdays, tacking on one more song to the setlist each year. This led to regular year-round performances as a band performing Dylan’s music from the last 20 years, introducing scores of music lovers to Dylan’s lesser-known but highly acclaimed newer songs.
Old Bob is led by Brian Anderson on vocals and upright bass — who you might have seen at the Towne Crier in previous years with roving-folk band Caravan of Thieves; guitarist Chris Cavaliere (Symphonic Bodega, Cavaliere Music); percussionist Kenny Owens (Hitch & the Giddyup, Symphonic Bodega); and keyboardist Chris Strange (Juicy Grapes).
